
RALPH ARTHUR OLIVE
OLIVE, RALPH ARTHUR - The death of Ralph A. Olive of The Admiral Beatty Complex at King Square South, former husband of Carol M. Olive (nee Pulford), occurred after a lengthy illness at the SJRH on September 23, 2006 at the age of 78 years. He was born in Saint John on November 10, 1927 and was the son of the late Arthur and Frances M. (McKee) Olive. He was a graduate of Saint John High School in 1944 and worked on many reunions. He was employed with Robbins Drug Store and Calps Ltd. He worked for Excelsior Life Insurance Company in the 1950's achieving his CLU degree. In the 1960's he worked for Maritime Shopping Mall Companies. He became a full time artist in the 1980's and produced many popular works of art for friends, family and collectors world wide. Lately, he sold his artwork to many cruise ship passengers visiting Saint John. He also enjoyed barber shop singing, fishing, gliding and politics. He was the past president of the Saint John Fish and Game Association for many years. He is survived by three sons, David (Dianne) of Fredericton Junction, James (Susan) of Quispamsis and Peter of Saint John West. He was very proud of his five grandchildren, Thomas and Andrew Olive of Fredericton, Shauna and Jena Olive of Rothesay and Alanna Meyer of Hampton. Also survived by two nieces, Brenda McArvill and Judy-Ann Simmons of Halifax; one sister-in-law, Wilma Olive of Moncton; as well as best friends, Larry Bell and Lynn of Rothesay. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by one brother, Richard Olive; one daughter, Christine H. Olive and one daughter-in-law, Rosaline M. Olive. Resting at A. W. Cavanagh Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 91 Leinster Street (634-1712) with visiting on Monday, September 25 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. The Funeral Service will be held in Cavanagh's Chapel on Tuesday at 10:30 am, followed by internment in Fernhill Cemetery.
