STAN HARRIS
HARRIS, STAN - The passing of Stan Harris of Dalhousie (Darlington), NB, occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Wednesday, January 30, 2008. He was 84. Born August 30, 1923 in Chatham, NB, he was the son of the late John and Catherine (Miller) Harris. He spent his working life as a bricklayer, employed, for the most part at NBIP. A veteran of WWII and the Korean War, Stan served in the Canadian Armed Forces. He was a 53 year continuing member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Dalhousie Branch No. 17. Stan enjoyed playing hockey as a goalie and continued to do so to around 40 years of age. He loved to sing and found great enjoyment entertaining his family and friends. Stan is survived by his wife, Cynthia (Chapman) Harris, they were days from their 49th Anniversary; children, David Roy (Violet) of Stittsville, Ont., Brenda Senechal (Ronnie) of Dalhousie, Derek Roy (Susan) of Innisfail, Alberta, Megan Roy-O'Brien (Brendan) of Caledon East, Ont., Sharon Harris (Terry Smith) of Dalhousie and Heather Creaser (Eben) of Long's Creek, NB; eleven grandchildren, three great granddaughters and one great great grandson; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Stan was the last surviving member of his immediate family having been predeceased by five siblings. The family will receive relatives and friends at Maher's Funeral Home, 421 Victoria St., Dalhousie, NB on Monday, February 4, 2008 from 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 11:00 am from St. John Bosco Roman Catholic Church with Father Bill Arsenault as celebrant. Interment at a later date.
