
VIOLET MARIE (HICKEY) BARTON
BARTON, VIOLET MARIE (HICKEY) - It is with mixed feelings that we announce the passing of Violet Barton, widow of A. Thomas Barton, On December 1, 2008. Her family and friends are saddened by her passing but she is rejoicing to be with her Lord and Savior. Born in Chipman, N.B., on May 3, 1918, Violet was the third youngest and last surviving member of the Richard and Effie (Bishop) Hickey family. Predeceased by brothers and sisters Leverett, Margaret (Goldie Knox), George, Lillian (Harold Clark), Mary Northrup and Gertrude Brown. Survived by their children Frederick (Ferne), Myrna McCarty (Doug), Larry (Andrea), and Wanda Mae Wasson (Doug); ten grandchildren (predeceased by one grandson, Lee) and 19 great grandchildren as well as brothers- and sisters-in-law George Northrup, Harold Barton, Bessie Barton and Phyllis McCumber. Violet married A. Thomas (Tommy) Barton in 1938 and moved to Minto, N.B. the next year. Here they raised their family and Violet helped Tommy operate Barton's Trucking. In later years they enjoyed many trips to Florida and Ontario. Violet and Tommy were just months from their 60th wedding anniversary when Tommy passed away in 1998. Violet was a charter member of Bethel Baptist Church where she loved to teach Sunday school and was a prayer warrior for family, friends and many others. Resting at the Bethel Baptist Church 635 Pleasant Drive, Minto, NB on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm and where Funeral Service will be held 11:00AM Thursday, December 4th, 2008 with Pastor Phillip Crossman officiating.
