MARCEAU, J. PATRICE - At the Grand Falls Manor Veterans' Wing, January 30th, 2009, Mr. Joseph Patrice (Pat) Marceau, 87, of Grand Falls, NB, passed away peacefully. He was the husband of the late Margaret Cunningham. Born at North Bay, Ontario in 1921, he was the last surviving child of the late Joseph-Henri and Elida (Séguin) Marceau. Mr. Marceau was a veteran of World War II, having been a sick berth attendant in the Navy. He graduated from the University of New Brunswick as a Forest Engineer. He began his career with J.D. Irving Ltd. in 1958 and initiated the nursery and reforestation program. He was a dedicated Irving employee for more than 35 years. He was inducted into the New Brunswick Forestry Hall of Fame in 1997 for having attained prominence and distinction in the Field of Forestry and was recognized as having made major contributions to the development and advancement of forestry in New Brunswick. He was an Honorary Life Member of the Association of Registered Professional Foresters of NB and was a member of the Canadian Forestry Association. He is survived by five daughters, Anne (Michael Burzynski) of Rocky Harbour, NL, Debra (Ken Craig) of Quispamsis, Debra's sister, Dianne (Paul Tremblay) of Mississauga, ON, Juliette (late Robert McLeod) of Westcock, Diane (Rino Levesque) of Saint-André and Sylvie (Alexandre Bureau) of Québec, QC; five sons, Etienne of Grand Falls, Julien of Fredericton, Daniel (Lorraine) of Oshawa, ON, Gabriel of Boston, MA and Medgar of Seattle, WA; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Michel Sylvain; and nine siblings. Resting at O'Regan's Funeral Home, 515 Everard Daigle Blvd., Grand Falls with visiting hours Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9pm and Monday from 9:30-11am. His funeral service will be held Monday, February 2nd at 11am from the Assumption Roman Catholic Church, Chapel Street, Grand Falls, with interment in the Assumption Cemetery in the spring. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 21, will meet for prayers Sunday at 7:30pm.
