RUSSELL LAWRENCE NEGUS
NEGUS, RUSSELL LAWRENCE - The death of Russell Lawrence Negus, husband of Barbara (Campbell) Negus occurred at his residence on Friday February 20, 2009. Born 1929 in Eastern Passage, NS he was the son of the late Charles and Theresa (Dooks) Negus. Russell served in Germany from 1952-53 with the 2nd Battalion Black Watch Highlanders. He had worked as a Truck Driver for the Department of National Defense, Saint John Shipbuilding and as a taxi driver for Vet's Taxi for many years. He was a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion, and a lifetime member of the Buffalo Club. He enjoyed playing Bingo, Cribbage and spending time with his family. Besides his parents he was predeceased by brother Harold Negus. Besides his loving wife Barbara of 57 years, he is survived by his children Joan Challoner (Ray), Russell Jr. (Leonora), Deborah Negus (Claude McShane), Linda Cleary (Robert), Lawrence (Brenda) and Barbara Ellen Taylor (Steve) all of Saint John; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; brothers Merton (Sal) and Wayne (Brenda) both of Nova Scotia; sisters Myrtle Young, Marguerite Hinch and Bernice Mercer (Brad) all of Nova Scotia; sister-in-law Alice Negus of Nova Scotia; several nieces and nephews. Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitations on Sunday and Monday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday February 24, 2009 at 2 p.m. Interment will follow in Fernhill Cemetery.
