John Boutilier, 50, of King Street, New Waterford, passed away Sunday, Feb. 8, 2009, at home.
Born in New Waterford, he was the son of Yvonne (LeForte) and the late Clayton Boutilier.
John was a member of Calvin United Church, New Waterford. He was employed as a Corrections Officer at the Cape Breton Correctional Facility, Sydney. John was an avid musician who also had a great love of sports and was actively involved within his community. John was trainer for the New Waterford Jets Junior 'C' Hockey Team, a member of the New Waterford and Caledonia Rugby Clubs as well as coach of the B.E.C. Division 1 High School Rugby Team. In his free time, John enjoyed training his horses.
Surviving are his wife, Shelley (Heffernan) Boutilier; daughter, Deborah Lynn, at home; sons, David John (Jessica), Fort McMurray, Alta., Shawn Michael (Nadine), Edmonton, Alta., Kyle James (Aimee), Halifax, N.S., Emerson John (Rachel), Red Deer, Alta.; brothers, Clayton (Shirley), Ontario, Rick (Shirley), B.C.; sister Marlene (Robbie) MacEachern, New Waterford; mother and father-in-law, Victoria Gaetan and Emerson Heffernan.
John was predeceased by his first wife, Deborah Anne (McNeil) Boutilier.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral service will take place Friday, Feb. 13, at 11 a.m in Calvin United Church with Rev. Duncan Roach officiating. A luncheon will follow at Calvin Hall.
