
HENRY EDGAR OLIVER
OLIVER, HENRY EDGAR - (85), Port Bickerton, Guysborough County, died Friday, July 17, 2009 at home. Born in Prince Edward Island, he was a son of the late Edgar Henry and Annie (Cushman) Oliver. Born and raised on Prince Edward Island until he enlisted in the Canadian Army during WWII. After being wounded in Sicily, near the end of the war, he returned to Canada, married to wife Rose. Ed moved to St. John where he worked for the CPR and then for the Atlantic Sugar Refinery until retirement, when he relocated to Nova Scotia. He loved watching Hockey Night in Canada, fishing and especially hunting. He loved his children and took great pride in all his grandchildren, always sharing his stories with them. One of Ed's greatest loves and passions were his dogs. He is survived by son Paul (Wendy), St. John, NB; daughter Shirley (Harold) Jack, Dartmouth; brother Fred (Leah), Essex, Ont.; sisters Dorothy (Walter) Courtney-Irvine, Nellie Glew, both of St. John, NB; grandchildren Brad Jack, Kelsie (Danny) Hynes, Tara (Nick) Oliver, Luke Oliver, Ashley Jack-Parsons; great grandchildren Faith, Kale, Blaize, Brooks; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers Earl, Norman, Frank; sister Margaret Biggar; infant sister Georgieanne Oliver; grandson Dustin Jack. Cremation has taken place. Memorial service was held Monday, July 20, 2009 at 1pm in St. Paul's Anglican Church, Port Bickerton with Rev. Melissa Frankland officiating. Burial at a later date in Prince Edward Island.
