It is with profound sadness we announce the death of our dear mother and grandmother, Ethel Manuel. Ethel joined the angels on February 4, 2009, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital after a lengthy illness.
She was born in Alder Point, N.S. and was the daughter of Mary (Devoe) Fry and the late James Fry.
She was a devoted member of Ste. Anne Church in Baie Ste. Anne, N.B.
Ethel graduated from Mount St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing in Chatham, N.B. in 1953. She won a warm spot in the hearts of all she met while training there.
Ethel enjoyed knitting, sewing, crocheting, reading and occasionally she joined her husband moose hunting. She gave with a heart full of love and no one who visited her home left empty handed.
She will be remembered as a gracious lady who never complained and accepted the challenge of life with grace and dignity.
She will be greatly missed by her husband Benoit Manuel; her 10 children and 16 grandchildren who were her precious jewels.
Ethel is survived by her husband, Benoit; daughters, Charlene Manuel (Michael), Rachelle Carroll (Johnny), Melissa Savoie (Kevin), Lorna Manuel (George), Dorcas Mollins (Mike), Petrina Hebert (Daniel); sons, Joe Manuel, Arnold Manuel, Alexis Manuel (Diane), Karl Manuel (Sarah); 16 grandchildren; mother, Mary (Devoe) Fry; sisters, Linda (Lawrence MacPhee), Margaret McGraw, Bonita Mulley (Donnie), Eileen Brennan (Sheldon); brothers, William (Judy), Eugene (Joan), Edward (Faye), Earl (Lori), Brian (Sheri); sisters-in-law, Mary Fry and Linda Fry.
She was predeceased by an infant granddaughter; her dad, Jim Fry; brothers, Stanley and Arthur.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009 at 11 a.m. in St. Anne Church in Baie Ste. Anne, N.B. with Fr. Fidele LeBlanc officiating.
