George Dyer, 78, MacLeod’s Hill, Sydney, passed away Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Cornerbrook, Nfld., George was the son of the late Henry and Mae (Decker) Dyer.
He retired from Irving Oil Ltd. after 23 years of service.
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth (MacEachern); daughters, Linda and Susan (Wayne), Sydney and Evelyn (Marc), Quebec; sons, George (Melanie) and David (Debbie), Sydney; sisters, Beulah (Donald) MacRury, Sydney and Hazel (Jim) Walters, Bras D’or; brothers, Gordon (Bride), Sydney and Fred (Lillian), Halifax; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
George was predeceased by his son, John and sisters, Evelyn and Ruby.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Monday 7-9 p.m. A memorial service will be held in the chapel on Tuesday 2 p.m., with Pastor Ron Coole officiating.
Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
