It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jenny Gardiner on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Theresa (Hayes) Gardiner.
She enjoyed walks on the beach and spending time with her family.
Jenny is survived by her daughter, April (Warren) Higgins; sisters, Josie Hill, Rose (John) Jack, Pearl Gardiner and Theresa Robic; brothers, Mike (Ann) Gardiner, Charlie Gardiner, Jim Gardiner, John (Thomasina) Gardiner, as well as her sunshine, granddaughter, Jennie. She is also survived by her dear friends, Kenneth Bishop and John MacIssac as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Betty MacNeil, Nora Washbrook, Bridget Ann Gardiner and a brother in infancy.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Sunday, Feb. 15,2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. Memorial mass will take place 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 16, 2009 at St. Theresa Church, with Fr. James Oliver officiating. Reception will follow at Chant’s Funeral Home. Interment to take place in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks at a later date.
Donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional.
