MALCOLM KENNETH "MAC" - GRAFTON BAXTER

BAXTER, MALCOLM KENNETH "MAC" - GRAFTON, N.S - 52, of Grafton, Kings County, Nova Scotia, passed away Friday, December 18, 2009 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, Nova Scotia. Born in Saint John, New Brunswick, he was a son of the late Kenneth and Audrey (Dykeman) Baxter. He was a graduate of Milledgeville North High School in New Brunswick and attained his Bachelor of Science from Dalhousie University in Halifax. He had been employed as the director of Big Brothers and Big Sisters in Saint John for many years, retiring due to ill health. He enjoyed spending summers at the cottage in Ragged Point, sailing, watching the birds outside his window, following the stock market and spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, the former Anne Smit; a sister, Rosalie (Hugh) Brittain, Saint John; a brother, Gordon (Dawn), Carleton Place, Ontario; parents-in-law, Arend and Tina Smit, Grafton; three brothers-in-law, Will (Sylvia) Smit, Olds, Alberta; Robert (Audrey) Smit, Shubenacadie; Brian (Anita) Smit, Grafton; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. Monday, December 21, 2009 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 22, 2009, Pastor Michael Veenema officiating. Interment will take place in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Kings County, Nova Scotia. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory may be made to the MS Society or the Annapolis Valley Victorian Order of Nurses.
