It is with great sadness that the family wish to announce the passing of Joyce LeBlanc on February 16, 2009 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in New Waterford, she was the daughter of the late Robert ‘Bob’ and Frances (MacLennan) Jardine.
Joyce worked for many years for the Town of New Waterford and Community Services in New Waterford and Glace Bay, where she retired in 2005. She was a member of Calvin United Church, New Waterford and her favourite past times were spending time with her grandchildren at her cottage in Mira, attending horse races and hosting Sunday dinners.
She is survived by her loving husband, Harold and children, Linda MacLeod (Paul McLennan), Harold (Lisa), Bobbie (Joe) MacDonald, Joel (Cheryl), and Katie (Kris) Price; seven grandchildren, Elyse and Nikki MacLeod, Brett and Robyn LeBlanc, Bhreagh and Liam MacDonald and Rylan Price; sisters, Jackie (Eddie) Hindle, Sandra (Ritchie) Jury and brother Wally (Willena) Jardine.
Visitation for Joyce will take place today (Tuesday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford, 862-7500. A funeral service to celebrate Joyce’s life will take place on Wednesday, February 18, at 11 a.m in Calvin United Church, Hudson Street, New Waterford with Rev. Duncan Roach officiating and burial in Union Grove Cemetery. A luncheon will be held in the church hall and all are invited.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Joyce’s memory can be made to the Cape Breton Cancer Unit or the Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
