Raymond E."Buzz" Barton

Raymond E."Buzz" Barton 1913 - 2002 Raymond Elmore "Buzz" Barton, 88, of Moncton and formerly of West Street passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Wednesday, September 4, 2002. He was formerly employed with Sumner Glass Co. and later retired after 32 years service with Canadian Pittsburg Glass. He was a member of Central United Church. Buzz was a avid sportsman enjoying Curling (MCA), Bowling, Baseball, Basketball and Senior League Hockey during the 1920's and 30's and he was inducted to Moncton's Sports Wall of Fame in 1996. He was also a member of the UCT, a honourary member of Local 999, a volunteer Fireman for 34 years and a 25 year member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 6. He is survived by his wife, Marion (Fraser) Barton; three daughters, Brenda (Russell) Silliker of Upper Cape, Karen (Gerald) Dryden of Moncton, Rae Acker (Ephraim) of Moncton; one son, Robert "Bob" (Pauline) Barton of Moncton; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and by several nieces and nephews. He is the last surviving member of his immediate family. Besides his parents he was predeceased by two brothers, Bob and Walter Barton. Visitation is at Tuttle Bros. Funeral Home Moncton on Thursday, September 5 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The Funeral Service will be held at Tuttle Bros. Memorial Chapel on Friday, September 6, 2002 at 3:00 pm with Rev.'s Eldon Hay and George Barrett officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Moncton, NB. Donations to the Cancer Society, Moncton Firefighters Burn Unit, Friends of The Moncton Hospital Foundation or to the memorial of the donors choice would be appreciated.
