It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the peaceful passing of Henry Pottie, on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2009, at the Glace Bay Health Care Complex, surrounded by his family.
Born in Hawker, Richmond County, he was the son of the late Fred and Lillian (Rhyno) Pottie.
Henry was a resident of Taigh Na Mara, Glace Bay. He was a veteran of the Korean War and later was employed with many companies in Ontario before retiring.
Henry is survived by his daughter, Charlotte ‘Cookie’ (Fred) Boudreau, Hamilton, Ont.; three grandchildren; as well as two brothers, Raymond (Tena), Westmount, Arthur (Marg), Chilliwack.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his stepmother, Dorothy (Sullivan) Pottie and brother, Amedie (Sheila) Pottie.
Visitation will take place Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009 from 7-9 p.m. and Sunday Feb. 22, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 23, 2009 at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment to take place in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Westmount.
