Victor George Pepper DARTMOUTH, NS - Victor George Perrer, 85, of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 23, 2003 at home with his family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer. Born February 5, 1918 in Moncton, he was a son of the late Albert Victor and Elizabeth (Oakey) Pepper. He was a veteran of the Second World War who served his country overseas in England and Northwest Europe as a member of the St. John Fusiliers. After the war, he worked in the retail industry for most of his life. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Elmsdale Branch 48. He was also an accomplished musician who played the piano, organ and clarinet. Throughout his life he shared his gift and love for music with others by serving as church organist and choir director for a number of churches, as bandmaster for the 14th Field Regiment (RCA) Regimental Band in Windsor, and he also played for dances and many other events. Victor is survived by his wife of 62 years, the former M. Nina Hunter, who is also of Moncton; children, John, Patricia (Garry) Roberts, Michael (Judie), Brian, Jana (Curtis) Ashley; daughtersin-law, Norma (Walker) Pepper, Michelle (Guimond) Pepper; grandchildren, Gregory, Susan, Robert, Michael, Adam, Kyle, Christopher, Thomas; great grandchildren, Brandon, Emily, Nicholas, Emryss, Jacob; sisters, Carrie (late John) Menzies, Mississauga, Ontario; Dorothy (Fred) Sparkes, Kingston, Ontario; Betty (late Bill) Rowlands, Brampton, Ontario; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. His remains are resting in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street, Dartmouth, with visitation 2-4, 7-9 pm Saturday, where funeral service will be held 2 pm Sunday, Rev. David LeBlanc officiating. Royal Canadian Legion, Elmsdale Branch 48, led by Padre David Fletcher, will have their tribute service as part of the funeral service. Reception to follow in Atlantic Funeral Home Family Reception Centre. Interment will be held 3 pm Friday, May 30, in Elmwood Cemetery, Elmwood Drive, Moncton, Rev. Ross Wiseman of St. John's United Church, Moncton, officiating. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Victor's memory to Canadian Cancer Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia would be appreciated.
