It is with heavy hearts that we, the family of Phyllis (Carey) Fraser, announce her passing after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Friday, Feb. 20, 2009, at the Cape Breton Regional Palliative Care Unit.
Born in Bras d’Or, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Sarah ‘Sadie’ Carey. She was a dedicated homemaker who loved to bake delicious goodies and spend all her time with her family and friends. She especially looked forward to the large family get-togethers every year in Big Baddeck on July 1st.
She will be sadly missed by Eric, her devoted husband of 33 years; her daughters, Tracey (Terry) Inder, North Sydney, Karen (Trevor) Snow, Florence, Patricia (Barry) MacIntyre, Sydney Mines; her six grandchildren, Terry and Ashley Inder, Christian, Mason and Emily Snow and Kalee MacIntyre, all of whom were her pride and joy. She is also survived by 13 brothers and sisters, Sonny (Pat), Ella Marg (Allister) Phillips, both in Baddeck, Alfred (Annie), Florence, Sophie (Gord) Tucker, Lower Sackville, Gladys (Fred) Howell, Catherine (George) Rudderham, Point Edward, George, Ontario, John (Alberta), Balls Creek, Martha (Ken) Genter, Raymond, both in Sydney Mines, Auley (Ella), Joe Glen (Michelle), both of Point Aconi and Donald, Bras d’Or. She will be sadly missed by the Fraser family, many nieces and nephews and her best friend, Lila Lynk and family and neighbours, too numerous to mention.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Isabel; her brother, Thomas ‘Echo’ and his wife, Joan.
Visitation Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Francis Funeral Home, Sydney Mines. Mass of Christian Burial will take place Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, Bras d’Or with Fr. Peter McLeod officiating.
