Gordon Perry "Gordie" Sr. OTTAWA, ON - Gordon C. Perry, formerly of New Brunswick, passed away peacefully in Ottawa on Friday, September 19th, 2003 at the age of 100 years. Gordie Perry, dearly loved husband of Muriel Taggart, predeceased by wives Joy Perry (Keith) and Betty Thomas. Loving father of Gord Jr. (Phyllis), Lynn Merkley (late John) and Pat Murray (late David). Dear "Grampa" of 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by a brother Graham and by two sisters Doreen Gillespie and Carol Alleyn. Gordie was an extraordinary athlete: Member of the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame, Quebec Sports Hall of Fame, Ottawa Sports Hall of Fame, Canadian Football Hall of Fame and the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame. Past President and Life Member of the Ottawa Curling Club, Past President and Emeritus member and longest living member of the Governor General's Curling Club. Former Captain of the Montreal Winged Wheelers (predecessor of the Montreal Alouettes) with whom he won the Grey Cup in 1931. He was named Honourary Captain of the 2003 Montreal Alouette Team. Friends may pay their respects at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road, Nepean, Ontario on Monday from 7 to 9 PM and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Funeral service at Trinity Anglican Church, 1230 Bank Street, Ottawa, Ontario on Wednesday at 11:30 Am. Interment to follow to follow.
