Rev. Wilfred Lauzon

Rev. Wilfred Lauzon MEMRAMCOOK, NB - Rev. Wilfred Lauzon, 95, of Foyer St. Thomas, Memramcook, formerly of Dieppe, passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2004 at the residence. Born August 12, 1909 in Montréal, he was the son of the late Joseph Lauzon and the late Cordélia Rochon. Besides the archdiocese of Moncton, he is survived by a niece and a nephew. He was the last survivor of his immediate family of five. He studied classical and theology with the Franciscains in Trois-Rivières, Québec, and Montréal. He was ordained priest with the Franciscain's Order May 22, 1937 in St-Hyacinthe, Qc. He served his ministry at Sorel, TroisRivières, Vancouver, Welland, and Aroostook. He was chaplain with Royal Canadian Navy having served on the Pacific coast and overseas from 19421945. In 1946, he came to work for the Archdiocese of Moncton as curate at Our Lady of Assumption Cathedral; Bouctouche, 1946-1947; Rogersville, 1947-1949; Dieppe, 1949-1952; Notre Dame-de-Gr~ce, 1952-1955; St-Louisde-France, 1955-1956; pastor in Irishtown, 1956 until his retirement in 1972. Remains resting Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Frenette Funeral Home, 88 Church Street, Moncton (8581900), then transferred Saturday to Ste. Therese Roman Catholic Church, Dieppe for 10 a.m. from where the funeral Mass will be held Saturday, October 30, 2004 at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe. www.frenettefuneralhome.com
