Robert A. Dutcher

Robert A. Dutcher Robert A. Dutcher, 75, of Moncton passed away at the Moncton Hospital on Tuesday, November 23, 2004 following a long battle with cancer. Born in Hardwicke, NB he was the son of the late George Dutcher and the late Margaret(Callender) Macdonald. A 1946 graduate of Miramichi High School, he went on to accounting and increasingly senior management positions in a number of firms over his long business career: A&R Loggie, Atlantic Wholesalers, Canadian National Railways, Maritime Auto & Trailer Sales, Central Trust, and Dutcher Business Consultants Accounting 4000. Bob was a member of Mount Royal United Church and was deeply involved in fraternal organizations: Keith Lodge #23 F&AM (1951-2004), Masonic Scottish Rite Lodge (Moncton and Saint John) Shrine Club (Moncton & Saint John), past Patron Fidelity Chapter OES #36, and president of the Coverdale Masonic Temple Board. Bob was also highly involved over the years in service organizations: past president Probus Club of Greater Moncton, past president Greater Moncton Service Club Council, past president Gyro Club of Moncton, Governor-Gyro International District VI, past president Gyro International, National Director- Community Foundations of Canada, founding Chairman - Community Foundations of Greater Moncton, and Executive Director - Community Foundation of Greater Moncton. A profound concern for a variety of health issues motivated Bob to assume numerous leadership roles during his life time: founding president New Brunswick Council on Smoking and Health, National Director- Canadian Council on Smoking and Health, General Campaign Chair - Canadian Cancer Society, past president New Brunswick Lung Association, and past president Canadian Lung Association. Included in his many awards and honourary life memberships over the years were Gyro International "Honour Key", Gyro international "Jimmy Hubbel Friendship Cup", and a Canadian "Operation Lifestyle Award". Bob will be sadly missed by all who knew him, especially his wife of 50 years, Jean Marie (Letcher) Dutcher, and his 3 children, Stephen (Lisa), Fredricton, John (Heather), Guelph, ON, and Elizabeth MacDougall (Derrick), Woodstock. "Grampy" had 10 grandchildren, Shane, Andrew, Jonathan, Jeremy, Colin, Megan, Lauren, Kyla, Meghan and Lauren. He will also be sadly missed by his brothers and sisters, Keith (Wanda), Jacksonville Beach, FL, Bill (Shiley), Shediac Bridge, Anna Hilburn (Earl), Atlantic Beach, FL, and Norma Jean Dickison (Charles), Doaktown; as well as many neices and nephews. He was predeceased by one sister, Elizabeth. Visitation at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton, Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Fidelity Chapter #36 OES Memorial Service Friday 6:45pm and Keith Lodge # 23 F & AM Memorial Service Friday 6:30pm. Funeral service at Mount Royal United Church, Saturday, November 27, 2004, 1pm. Rev. Valerie Temes-Taylor officiating. Reception in the Chuch Hall following the Service. Interment, Fairhaven Memorial Gardens.
