John Harold "Jack" Brownell FALL
John Harold "Jack" Brownell FALL RIVER, NS - John Harold "Jack" Brownell, 67, of Fall River, NS, passed away at home surrounded by all who loved him, after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Born in Saint John, NB, he was the son of the late Arthur Brownell and Hazel (MacCallum) Brownell. Jack was a champion to all who needed him. His leadership and caring attitude has supported his family, friends, and many charities that he has encountered. He was the visionary, the genius and the heart of the family. His special blend of strength, determination and love was apparent to everyone he touched. Jack was one of the first Queen's Scouts in Canada, a feat he remained proud of throughout his life. In later years, he became involved with Scouts Canada once again, working with the youth and leaders of 2nd Wellington and the Basin Lakes Service Team. He was a Board Member with Ward 5 Community Centre and an avid supporter of the Optimists' Club. Jack was a very active member of the CBC Pensioners' Association and was currently serving a term as President, Halifax Region, as well as the Region representative for the National Pensioners Association. The Pensioners' were strong supporters of a variety of charities, including the Halifax Optimists' Club, Hope Cottage and the Metro Food Bank. He worked tirelessly to address pension inequities and educate the members of the Pensioners' Association. Jack worked at CBC for 35 years and retired as Manager of Technical Services. He and Claire then bought and developed Frame Plus Art, where they could spend their time working together and leave a legacy for their family. Jack was the eldest of seven and is survived by sisters, Mary (Bruce) Tower, Moncton, NB, Anne (Brian) Stott, Blandford, NS, Elizabeth (John) Pettipas, Moncton, NB; Brothers, Beverley, Wainflect, ON, William (Donna), Beaverbank, NS, Arthur (Maureen), Welland Port, ON. He will be forever remembered and terribly missed by his soulmate, his wife and partner, Claire (nee Brunt); daughters, Darlene (Gerald) Burgess, Lynn (Bill) Metham, Jacqueline (Tyrone) Fitzmorris; and son, John, all of Fall River; Grandchildren, William, Joey, Kyle, Nicholas, Samantha, Danielle, Travis, and Matthew; and great granddaughter, Allissa. His legacy will continue through his family. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Drive, Lower Sackville, Where visitation will be held from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm on Wednesday, February 16, 2005. A celebration of Jack's life will be held on Thursday, February 17, 2005 from 2:00 to 4:30 pm at the Royal Canadian Legion, Calais Branch #62, 75 Sackville Cross Road.
