ATTRIDGE - Grace Elizabeth, (McLaren), age 86 years of Gull Lake, SK, passed away February 13, 2009, at the Gull Lake Special Care Home. The Memorial Service was held from Knox United Church at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, February 18, 2009, with Reverend Bev Diduck officiating. The eulogy was presented by Riley and Donna Mann and a reading \"Spell of the Yukon\" by Robert Service, was read by Sharli Mann. The pianist was Nora Rudolph, and special music was provided by Shanna and Rory Mann. A pictorial tribute was done by Tammy Murray and Cheryl Attridge. Honorary pallbearers were all her friends and neighbors. The interment service was held at the Gull Lake Cemetery. Grace is survived by her loving husband, Charlie, of 63 years; a son Bob Attridge; daughter Jean (Morley) Murray and their children: Jason (Tammy), Ron (Cynthia) Murray; a daughter Mary Attridge and her children: Cheryl (Jamie Thengs) and Trever Attridge; a daughter Donna (Jim) Mann and their children: Shanna (Quentin) Hankins, Rory Mann, Sharli (Dryden Burton) and Riley Mann; as well as his adoptive son Steve (Barb) Sherwick; and 6 great grandchildren, Connor, Jewelya, Kamea, and Kalena Murray, Gregory Attridge and Ethan Hankins; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father Peter McLaren; mother Elizabeth McLaren; her son Peter; great grandchildren Cassandra, Keira & Matthew Thengs; brother Stuart McLaren; sister-in-law Jean McLaren; mother-in-law Nel Attridge; and father-in-law Robert Attridge. Grace was born in Gull Lake, SK, March 29, 1922. She attended school at the Suffield Rural School in the winter and in Gull Lake in the summer. Following her elementary schooling she attended the Normal School in Moose Jaw, SK. She taught school at Lake Alma School for one year, Stone Cliff School for 2 years, Fairview School for 6 months, Suffield School for one year, and later drove school bus for the Gull Lake Division. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Valley Centre Women\'s Institute, member of the School Board, Board of directors for the Special Care Home in Gull Lake and on the Auxiliary for the Special Care Home. She volunteered with basic education and English as Second Language, executive member of the Donor\'s Choice, and served on the executive of the Old Timer\'s Association for Gull Lake for many years. She enjoyed reading, sewing, puzzles, playing cards and travelling extensively. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she spent a great deal of time with them. Grace was a Ranger/Girl Guide leader and taught a number of teenagers to sew, among other things. She organized and led a support group for Osteoporosis for the South West Health District. She travelled with the Rolling Hills Public Health Nurses when they did Menopause Work Shops. Other achievements included acting with the Saskatchewan Women\'s Institute District at the local and provincial level as a director, Past Worthy Matron of Easter Star, President of the Parent and Teachers association; instrumental in getting power brought into the area in 1958. She also taught Weight Watchers for a number of years. Her proudest moment was when Emma Oddie, Women\'s Editor of the Western Producer, complimented her on her work in the literacy program. She was nominated for a Women of Influence award at agribition. Memorial donations in her memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 2360 - 2nd Ave., Regina, SK S4R1A6, the Osteoporosis Society of Canada, Regina Chapter, 90 Cavendish St., Regina, SK or to a charity of the donor\'s choice would be appreciated by the family.
