Murray Stewart Dickson MM 1919-2005 The death of Murray Stewart Dickson MM, loving husband of Claretta (Clare)(Stymest) Dickson, of Royal Court, Parkland Estates, Riverview, occurred on Monday, November 28, 2005 at the Moncton Hospital surrounded by family. Born on November 3, 1919 in Tide Head, N.B., he was the son of the lateLawrence and Annie (Anningson) Dickson. Murray was a Veteran of WWII serving with the Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa MG taking part in the D-Day landings and soldiering through western Europe. He received the Military Medal for Bravery in the Field. As a young man he worked with his father and brothers logging on the Restigouche River. He was later employed by K. C. Irving in Saint John, leaving in 1956 to pursue a career in the steel industry in the U.S. He returned to Saint John in 1975 as assembly foreman at the dry dock retiring in 1985. Clare and Murray moved to Riverview in 2001 to enjoy their retirement near family. Murray was a member of the First United Baptist Church. Besides his loving wife of sixty-four years, he is survived by daughters, Carla Sebelius (John) of Virginia and Terry Gentile (Terence), Riverview; son, Paul Townsend (Pat), England; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Loney (Rick), California; brother, Gordon of Ontario; sisters, Jean Parks, Halifax, and Kathleen Mann, Ontario; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sons, Ronald and Kenneth Merle; brothers, George, Wallace, and Robert. Visitations for Murray will be held from Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) on Friday, December 2, 2005 from 12 to 2 p.m., followed by a Royal Canadian Legion Tribute to a Veteran. A Memorial Service will be held from the chapel at 2:15 p.m. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery.
