Norman Steeves

Norman Steeves 1914-2007 THE GLADES, NB - Norman Quintin Steeves of The Glades, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, April 23rd, 2007 at the age of 92. Born in The Glades, December 26th, 1914, the son of the late William and Sarah (Bannister) Steeves. He joined the N.B. Rangers during World War II and served overseas in France, Belgium, Holland, Germany and was wounded in Falaise Gap. He was an active member and deacon of The Glades Baptist Church where he served as treasurer for 46 years. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 41 in Petitcodiac. Prior to his retirement, Norman was self employed in the trucking business and a salesman for South Eastern Mutual Insurance. He is survived and will be sadly missed by his wife of 55 years, Jean (Horsman); two daughters, June Colpitts (Arnold), Colpitts Settlement and Wanda Clive, Riverview; two sons, Ivan (Janet), Moncton and Glenn (Debbie), Riverview; seven grandchildren, Tanya Steeves, Trudi Wasson, Devin, Nick and Katelyn Colpitts, Laura and Christopher Steeves; and five great-grandchildren, Breanna, Josalynn, Taylor, Ava and Aden; one sister, Ruby Bishop (Bertram) of Petitcodiac, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by five brothers, John, Milton, William, Warnock and Hughie; sisters-in-law, Beatrice, Marjorie and Charlotte Steeves. Resting at the Salisbury Funeral Home, 3350 Salisbury Road (372-4800) with visitation Wednesday April 25th, 2007 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. Members of the Petitcodiac Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion will conduct a Memorial Service Wednesday at 6:45pm. Funeral service will be held from the Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, April 26th, 2007 at 2pm with Rev. Pat Cook officiating. Interment at the Glades Baptist Cemetery.
