COLLINS, Leonard J. – 91, of Amherst, and formerly of Parrsboro, passed away Friday, March 6, 2009 at Gables Lodge, Amherst. Born in Spencer’s Island, he was a son of the late John and Edna (Morris) Collins. Leonard worked at the Halifax Dockyard for 13 years retiring in 1982. During his earlier years, he was employed with Moir’s in Bedford. He is survived by his wife, the former Joyce Ricketts; daughters, Beth Whittaker (Peter), Greenvale, PEI; Diane Whittaker, London, England; brother, Lorway, Amherst; 4 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Linda; grandsons, Carl and Eddie; a sister, Gretchen; brothers, Aldon, Kenneth, Willis. Visitation 1-2 p.m. Sunday at Smith’s Funeral Home, Parrsboro, where funeral service will follow at 2 p.m., Pastor Wayne Berry officiating. Burial at the Allenville Cemetery at a later date.
