David Russell Canning
David Russell Canning David Russell Canning, 62, Restigouche Hospital Centre, passed away peacefully Monday, June 23, 2008 in Campbellton Regional Hospital, Campbellton, New Brunswick. Born April 17, 1946 in Truro, Nova Scotia, he was the son of Avis (Williams) Canning, Dartmouth and the late Hedley Canning. David began working with CNR at the age of 18, where he continued to work in various positions for the rest of his life, and retired from there in 2002. He was a member of Toastmasters in the Riverview/Moncton area. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed camping, biking and walking. He loved to sing and dance and also enjoyed reading and fixing up and refurbishing antiques. Along with his mother, David is survived by his daughter, Tricia (Marc) Goguen, Lakeville-Westmorland, New Brunswick; son, David, Granisle, British Columbia; step granddaughter, Brittany Pitre; sisters, Lorraine (Glenn) McCully, Dartmouth; Marilyn (Larry) MacNeill, Braeside, Ontario. Funeral service will be held 2 pm Saturday, June 28, 2008 in Acadia Mines United Church, Londonderry, Nancy Corrigan, DM officiating. Interment in Hillcrest Cemetery. Reception to follow in The Old Schoolhouse. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in David's memory to Canadian Mental Health Association are welcomed.
