George Harold Hebert Kierstead 1923 - 2008 Following a lengthy illness, George Kierstead, 85, of Rexton, New Brunswick passed away peacefully in the early hours on Monday, November 10, 2008 after a short stay at Stella Maris hospital, Ste. Anne de Kent. Born in Saint John, NB on June 5th, 1928, he was the son of George Cecile and Mina (Smith) Kierstead. George is predeceased by his sister Irene (Brown) and brother Donald. He is survived by his sister Madeleine (Wright). He will be sadly missed by his wife Millicent (Bagley); daughter Susan and son-in-law Colin; son William and daughter-in-law Vivian; and 4 grandchildren, Noal, Christopher, Meaghan and Abigail. George was a veteran, serving overseas during WW2 with the NB Rangers for 5 years, 9 months. Following his wartime service, George entered into the business world in the Maritimes, moving to Montreal and then Hamilton, ON where he was a business man and entrepreneur, much respected by his peers and employees. After he retired George was contracted by the Government of Ontario as a small business consultant and trouble shooter. George and Millie returned to NB, settling in Rexton. Above all, George was a devoted husband and loving father. George will also be missed by caregivers, Bernice, Cindy, Jennifer, Alex and Irene, and all others whose lives he touched. A memorial service will be held at St. John's Anglican Church, Rexton and officiated by the Reverend John Pearce on Friday, November 14th, 2008 at 11:30. A reception will follow at the Kierstead residence. In lieu of flowers donations to the Cancer Society or the Bonar Law Memorial School Scholarship Fund would be appreciated by the family.
