Helen (Green) Hatcher

88, North Sydney It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of our dear wife and mother, Helen Hatcher of Pleasant Street, North Sydney, and recently of Harbour View Hospital, Sydney Mines, on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008. Born in North Sydney, Helen was the daughter of the late Stan and Katherine (Morrison) Green. She was raised in a family of six children, two sisters and three brothers. Helen was a quiet woman who smiled easily and whose most enjoyment in life was spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren. She was a gentle soul who will be greatly missed by all who loved her. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, North Sydney. Helen is survived by her husband, Gordon 'Smokey' Hatcher; and her seven children, Ted (Elaine) Hatcher, North Sydney, Rita (Raymond) MacKinnon, Sydney, Philip (Shelley) Hatcher, Diane (Kim), Stan (Heather) Hatcher, all of North Sydney, Calvin (Donna) Hatcher Sydney Mines, and David Hatcher, L'Arche Cape Breton; her 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and her brother, Charles 'Sonny' Green. She was predeceased by her sisters, Elizabeth Moores and Nina Luffman and brothers, Sid and Gordon Green. The family would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff of the Harbour View facility for their genuine care and concern for our wonderful mother. They made our mother's last few years happy and worry free. A special thank you to her roommate and friend, Margaret MacLean. There will be no visitation by request. A funeral service for Helen will be held at 3 p.m., Wednesday at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church with Rev. Gloria McClure-Fraser officiating. Burial will take place in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney. Memorial donations may be made to L'Arche Cape Breton, Whycocomagh, B0E 2K0. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the W.J.
