The death of John “Jack” Wilson, husband of the late Nellie (Price) Wilson, occurred on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at the Oromocto Public Hospital. Born on December 22, 1916 in McNamee, NB, he was the son of the late John A. and Susan (Clarke) Wilson. Jack was a veteran of WWII and later worked with the Department of National Defence. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #78. He enjoyed the later years of his life living with his grandson, Frederick and his wife, Kelly at Jack’s home on the Miramichi. Jack is survived by his sons, Fred (Carolyn) Arnold of Fredericton, NB, John (Florence) of McNamee, NB, Allan (Lucillia) of Taymouth, NB and Edwin of Doaktown, NB; daughters, Donna (Garry) Gilbert of Keswick Ridge, NB and Paulette (Winston) Haight of Mactaquac, NB; brother, Donald (Bertha) Wilson of Fredericton, NB; sister, Joyce (Frank) Briggs of ON; twelve grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and one great great grandson; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Jack was predeceased by infant son, Eldon Wilson; sisters, Glenna Swan and Jean Wilson.
Visitation will take place from Miramichi Valley Funeral Home, New Bandon, NB on Monday, March 1, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 78 and #23 are asked to assemble at the funeral home on Monday at 6:45 pm for a Legion Tribute Service. A Funeral service will be at the Miramichi Valley Funeral Home on Tuesday March 2, 2010 at 2 pm with Rev. Dr. Beverly Daley officiating. Pallbearers for the service will be grandchildren, John E., Manley, Frederick, Ryan and Sally Wilson and Clarke Haight. Burial will take place in the Ludlow United Baptist Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances made to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
