Helen (Moss) Cormier

68, Sydney With great sadness the family announces the passing of Helen Cormier, age 68. Helen was a kind and loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, to all who knew her. Helen passed away at home very peacefully surrounded by her loving children, on Thursday, Dec. 25, 2008, after a brief battle with cancer. Helen was born in Sydney and was the daughter of the late Patrick and Bernadette (LeBlanc) Moss. She a member of Holy Redeemer Parish and a retired employee of the housekeeping department of the C.B.Regional Hospital and former St. Rita Hospital. Helen was a former member of Holy Redeemer darts and Radar Base Bowling and curling. She loved to dance, play cards, have family gatherings and sing-a-longs with her children, grandchildren and siblings. Helen is survived by one daughter Bernadette (Bill) and three sons, Leo (Michelle), Gordie (Raylene), Dennis (Natalie); grandchildren Julia and Alissa Cormier, Rene and Danielle Cormier and Caleb Cormier; step grandchildren Felicia (Jeff), Kevin and Megan. She is also survived by brothers Gordie (Enis) Moss, Allan (Patsy) Moss and Kevin Moss, all of Sydney; sisters Mary Moss, Oshawa, Ont., Clara Pike (Ron), Patricia Murphy (Tom) and sister-in-law Regina Moss-Murphy (Kevin), all of Cape Breton area, along with several nieces and nephews, who all loved their aunt Helen dearly. Besides her parents, Helen was predeceased by her husband Harold Cormier (1993) and two brothers Ernie (at age 39 in 1993) and Leo (in infancy). Visitation will be held, Monday Dec. 29, 2008 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at T.W.Curry Parkview Chapel. Funeral mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 am in Holy Redeemer church with Rev.
