Elizabeth Rose (Betty) Hennick

1943-2008 Edwardsville Betty Hennick passed away Dec. 26, 2008, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born in Edwardsville, she was the daughter of the late Parnell and Ellen (Rambeau) Williams. Betty is survived by her husband of 47 years, Ron; two daughters, Paula Roode, Lower Sackville, Lisa (Stephen MacIntosh), Howie Centre; and one son, Scott (Shauna Carrigan), Edwardsville. Gramma will be sadly missed by seven treasured grandchildren, Suzanne and Andrew Hennick, Kelly Lynn and Stephanie MacIntosh, Marla, Ben and Shaun Roode; as well as one special great-granddaughter, Blayre-Elizabeth Patterson. Betty is also survived by two sisters, Madelyn (David) Williams, Saint John, N.B. and Agnes (Malcolm) Rudderham, Port Elgin, N.B.; five brothers, Jake (Mary) and Ira (Bridget), both of Edwardsville, Willard, New Waterford, Archie, Port Hawkesbury, and Winston (Patricia), Saint John, N.B. Also surviving is special mother-in-law, Hazel Hennick, Sydney; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by father-in-law, Albert Hennick, who passed away Dec. 24, 1997. Betty managed Louis' Good Used Clothing for 13 years during which time she met many wonderful people who became close friends. She enjoyed reading a good book, knitting, sewing and most recently rug hooking as well as going for walks with her good friend, Marilyn. She loved walks on the beach and long drives with Ron, and she cherished every moment with each one of her grandchildren and was very proud of them all. Visitation for Betty will be held at Sydney Memorial Chapel, Tuesday, Dec. 30 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be Wednesday, Dec. 31 at Sydney Memorial Chapel, 2 p.m. with Rev. Wade Reppert officiating. Family flowers only please. Donations may be made in Betty's name to the An Cala Palliative Care Unit at Cape Breton Regional Hospital so they may continue their compassionate work. To Nan, You were my mentor, Thank you. To my darling family, don't look for me in the dark sky; I'll be in the white cloud on which you carried me so gently. I love you all. To my darling Ron, I will cherish your love in the deepest tower of my heart until the ashes turn to dust, our love will never depart. I love you.
