1928 - 2010
With great sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Carl Edward Kingston, age 81, of Dorchester, at the Sackville Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his family on Saturday, February 27, 2010.
Born in Chatham, N.B., he was a son of the late Frank and Rita (Lobban) Kingston.
For 15 years, Carl was employed with the Department of National Defence, prior to a 20-year career with Corrections Canada in Dorchester. He was a Past Master of Sussex Masonic Lodge #4F&AM, Past President and life member of the Dorchester Canadian Legion.
He was a member of Dorchester United Church, holding many offices which included 35 years as treasurer. An active community volunteer, he was a recipient of “Corrections Exemplary Service Medal” and the “NB Merit Award for outstanding contribution to the province.”
Carl will be sadly missed by his wife of 60 years, Beryl (McCosh); daughters, Carolyn (Max) Della-Camera and Lois (Khalid) Malik; sons, Frank and Bruce (Tracey); eight grandchildren, Paul, Natasha, Adeel, Nabeel, Megan, Kate, Ryan and Brent; three great grandchildren; a sister Isabel (Eugene) Breau. He was predeceased by a brother Alfred.
Carl’s remains were entrusted into the care of the Jones Funeral Home, Sackville (364-1300) from where visitation was held Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The funeral service was held at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at 2 p.m. Burial in the Dorchester Cemetery in the spring. Sussex Masonic Lodge #4 held a memorial service at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m.
