BAXTER, Helen Victoria - 80, of Middleton passed away with family members at her side on Saturday, Feb 27 at Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, after a courageous journey with pancreatic cancer. Born in Wallbridge, Ont. she was the daughter of the late Cecil and Florence (Hagerman) Sine. She is survived by Edward, her beloved husband of 60 years and loving children Larry (Halifax), Brian (Vancouver) and Kathy (Wolfville). Nana was very proud of her grandchildren Troy Bishop (Kelly) of Aurora, Ont. and Kameco (Marty) Sheehy of Red Deer Alta.; and of her great grand-daughter Abigail (Abby) Sheehy whom she was able to see in October. She is also survived by loving sisters Evelyn Fox, Burlington, Ont.; Lorena Fisher, Barrie Ont. and Vera (Delmar) Spratt, Manotick, Ont. and brothers Lorne (Donna), Kelowna, BC and Roy (Dee), Plainfield, Ont.; sisters-in-law Velma, Minden, Ont. and Helen, Frankford, Ont., brother-in-law Bill Casselman, Roslin, Ont. and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her twin children, Vicki Lynn and Vincent Edward; sisters Dorothy McNaught and Margaret Rose Casselman, brothers Donald and Ralph and brothers-in-law Jake McNaught, Keith Fox, and Bob Fisher. She will be remembered for her love of life whether at home or at their cottage; or in the garden or on the golf course. She also enjoyed reading, Tai Chi, bridge, line dancing, bowling, singing with the Middleton Choral Society and other volunteer activities. She received a 60th Year Award from the National IODE and a Provincial Certificate of Exceptional Volunteer Service (2004). She held a deep commitment to her faith, which included serving on the Altar Guild, participating in the ‘muffin’ club and singing in the Holy Trinity Anglican Church choir for many years and for which she was recognized with a certificate of faithful service. The family wishes to express their utmost appreciation for the compassionate care and support provided by friends, neighbours, Dr. Paul McLean, the nursing staff at Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, Dr. Lori Burgess and the palliative care staff. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Helen’s life will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 4th in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448. Interment will take place at a later date in Holy Trinity Anglican Cemetery, Middleton.
