57, Ft. McMurray/Kempt Road William John 'Billy' MacLeod, 57, of Ft. McMurray, formerly of Kempt Road, Richmond County, passed away Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008. in Northern Lights Regional Hospital after a brave battle with his health this past year. Billy was born in Sydney, N.S., on Feb. 3, 1951, a son of the late Norman and Florence (Nicholson) MacLeod of Kempt Road. In a career spanning over 25 years as a singer/songwriter, with three albums and countless live performances, Billy travelled the world playing music as half of the duo 'Cornelia and Billy'. After a life in music, he relocated to Ft. McMurray and was a supervisor for eight years with Douglas Coatings. As a true storyteller, he continued to write music and lyrics long after he stopped performing and his songs and spirit will stay with many people he has touched in his life forever. Billy is survived by his partner of the last 15 years, Sheliah Yetman and her daughter, Cathy (Gary Williams), Halifax; Billy's son, John Willie, Toronto, Ont.; sisters, Barbara (David) Wood, Moncton, N.B., Jane, Sarnia, Ont.; brothers, Donald (Beryl), Pleasant Hill, Arnold (Maureen), Georges River; several nieces and nephews; greatnieces and greatnephews. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today (Saturday) in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury, from where the funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009, with Wayne Hutchison officiating.
