Feb. 15, 1918-Jan. 2, 2009 Mill Creek With heavy hearts, we, the family of George White of Mill Creek, regret to announce his quiet passing on Jan. 2, 2009. A lifelong farmer and a war veteran, he spent his last moments at home in the peaceful company of his family. He lived for family, loved his garden and had a passion for the violin. The son of Samuel and Margaret White of Boularderie, he will be missed by his wife Gretta (Ahle); sons, George Richard (Patricia), Brian Erik (Michelle) and daughter, Marion (Louie). Dear to his heart were his grandchildren, Brian S (Jennifer), Tanya (Mark), Christopher (Bernetta), George, Jonathon and Katherine and his great-grandchildren, Jack, Noah and Grace. Surviving are his brother, Gregory, and his sisters, Rita (Ostrowski) and Vange (Miles) Besides his parents, George was predeceased by siblings, Bill, Chester, John, Helen Cary, Mary Jessome and Anna Boudreau and grandson, Benjamin Brooks. Visitation for George White will be held in the J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines, Sunday, Jan. 4, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will take place, Monday, Jan. 5 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. A reception will follow at 44 Dominic Dr., Sydney Mines, immediately after the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to charities of choice.
