The death of Mrs. Lillian Mae Waye, wife of the late Roland Waye of Miramichi, NB, occurred at her late residence on Friday, March 5, 2010 at the age of 100. Born in Whitney, NB, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Sadie (MacKay) Hare. Lillian was the oldest active member of St. James and St. John United Church, Newcastle and was a homemaker who devoted herself entirely to her family. Lillian is survived by: three daughters: Ella Fraser (Jack) of Fort St. John, BC; Mona Coull (Dave) of Miramichi, NB; Darlene Hachey (David Bunnell) of Miramichi, NB; three sons: Weldon (Marg) of Miramichi, NB; Delbert (Connie) of Sunny Corner, NB; Kenneth (Bonnie) of Saint John, NB; 18 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, eight great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Lillian was the last surviving member of her immediate family, besides her parents and husband: Roland (1991) she is predeceased by: son: Irvine (2001), sisters: Ella, Ada, Mildred, Irene and Bernice, brothers: Irvine, Amos, Lorne and Perley.
The family will receive visitors at Bell’s Funeral Home this evening from 7-9 PM and on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held from St. James and St. John United Church, Newcastle on Thursday at 11 AM with Rev. John Fraser officiating. Burial will take place in Miramichi Cemetery later in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. James and St. John United Church Organ Fund or to a memorial of one’s choice.
