GREGORY JAMES NILSON 1955-2010
On March 4, 2010 Greg Nilson passed on to a new place of happiness. In his last few years of life he spent his time doing the things he loved most: working around the yard, playing with his grandchildren, watching hockey, visiting with his mother Joyce and sharing evenings on the couch with his wife Marilyn. Despite his humbleness, Greg was well-known for his talents in hockey, football, baseball and pipefitting. He created many wonderful memories with his siblings, nieces and nephews; coached numerous winning games with his players; and built a fabulous life for his wife and their sons Chad and Rhett. Greg’s life revolved around his children and their various interests. Even though he didn’t care for big crowds he would never miss a hockey game, motocross race, band gig or political event if his boys were in action. Naturally, his biggest thrills came from simply hanging out with neighbours in Buckland and watching his children and their friends dirtbike and snowmobile in the field behind his house. The patience and adoration Greg had for all that was good in life was well illustrated by the care he had for his two young dogs. It didn’t matter how sick, tired or grumpy he was, he always made sure them “hard-to-handle dough-heads†were fed, watered and exercised. In all, Greg was a quiet but friendly gentleman. He had a positive impact on the lives of many. To show his family support for their loss, please do your part to promote and support amateur sports in your community. He would like that.
