Michael MacIsaac 'Mickey'

89, Sydney We the family of Michael 'Mickey' MacIsaac , 89, sadly announce the sudden death of our wonderful father, grandfather and great-grandfather on Friday, Jan. 2, 2009, surrounded by his loving family. Until his short illness he was in good health and thankfully in his own home. Born in Whitney Pier, where he resided all his life, he was the son of the late Rod and Bessie (Cameron) MacIsaac. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He served in the Canadian Army from 1940 to 1945 and was an employee of the Dosco and later the Sysco Steel Plant blast furnace department for 42 years. Mickey was a member of Holy Redeemer parish. Mickey is survived by daughter, Maureen (Bill) MacEachern and their children, Michael, Graham and Ellen, all of Dartmouth; son, Vernon (Donna) and their children, Colleen (Steve) MacDougall, Colin and Madonna; and son Ross (Cathy) and their children, Rosanne and Stephen; son, Michael (Rita) and their children, Maureen (Brad) MacNeil and Renee (Allan) MacIsaac-MacDonald, all of Sydney. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Austin MacIsaac, Isaac MacDougall and Ethan MacDonald. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 54 years, Tena (Small) MacIsaac, son, George and George's twin, Gregory (who died in infancy). He was also predeceased by sisters, Elizabeth (Jack) Thompson, Sarah, Florence and Cecilia MacIsaac and brothers, Angus, Danny (Frances), Alex and Duncan. Visitation for the late Michael 'Mickey' MacIsaac will take place 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 5, 2009, at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel, Sydney. Funeral mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. in Holy Redeemer Church with Fr. Errol MacDonald officiating. Burial in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Holy Redeemer Building Fund.
