Born: December 26th, 1933
Passed on: January 4th, 2009
75, Glace Bay It is with great sadness that we the family announce the passing of our father and grandfather on Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009, at the Glace Bay Health Care Complex. Born on Scaterie Island, C.B., Dec. 26, 1933, Charles was the son of the late Charles and Theresa (Trimm) Wadden. Charles was a member of St. Leo's Church, Glace Bay. He was employed by the Cape Breton Development Corporation as a miner and worked in No. 20, No. 26 and Phalen colleries until his retirement. Charles also worked as a lobster and swordfish fisherman, which was more pleasure than work, as he dearly loved his time spent on the ocean in his boat. Known for his work ethic and family values he was always doing something for one of us. He is survived by two sons, Gary (Gina), Glace Bay, Greg, Kitchener, Ont.; and by one daughter, Joanie, Kitchener, Ont. Charles is also survived by his companion, Theresa Burns; four grandchildren, Sonya (Ed), Courtney, John Charles, Cory; as well as many nieces and nephews. Left to mourn Charles passing are two brothers, Allister and Lloyd, Glace Bay and two sisters, Mary and Yvonne in Main-a-Dieu. Charles was predeceased by his loving wife, Ursula Davis, six brothers, Mike, Cletus, Sylvester, Gerald, Stanley, James and three sisters, Margaret, Beatrice and Theresa. Visitation for Charles will be held Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009, from 4-8 p.m. in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. The funeral mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St. Leo's Church, Glace Bay. Following the mass all are invited to join the family for a reception in the parish hall. Interment will take place at a later date in the parish cemetery. As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations in Charles memory may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation. Condolences to the family can be expressed at www.vjmcgillivray.ca.
