July 27, 1947-Jan. 2, 2009 Glace Bay It is with great sadness that we, the family of Diane Aucoin announce that she passed away peacefully Friday, Jan. 2, 2009, at the QE II in Halifax, surrounded by her loving family, after a valiant battle with heart and lung disease. Born in Reserve Mines, Diane was a daughter of the late Frank and Alice (McNeil) Currie. Besides her parents, Diane was predeceased by her father-in-law, Charlie Aucoin. She will be sadly missed by her husband of 37 years, Brian; and two sons, Brad (Susanne) and Kyle (Laurie); and her two cherished grandsons, Callum and Benjamin; as well as her mother-in law, Christine; by her loving sister, Marilyn (Joe) McMullin; and many nieces and nephews. Diane worked as a CNA at St. Joseph's Community Hospital, mostly in the obstetrics department - a job she dearly loved. She also worked for several years at the Seaview Manor nursing home. Diane loved nursing and brought her gifts of caring and compassion to her job. Diane cared for people and believed that everyone had the right to be treated with love and dignity. During her prolonged sickness she was fortunate to be treated with the same care, dedication and dignity by the many doctors and nurses that attended her. Diane loved reading, taking care of her family, and children, her own as well as others. She especially cherished her time with her grandchildren. She was an active member of St. Anne's parish, Glace Bay. Visitation for the late Diane Aucoin will take place at Curry's Funeral Home on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2009, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, Reserve Mines, Fr.
