God saw her getting tired and her cure was not to be, So He put his arms around her and whispered "come to me" We the family of Annie Jane MacDonald, with great sadness, wish to announce her passing on Jan. 3, 2009, at the age of 83 in Victoria County Memorial Hospital. At the time of her passing she was a resident of Alderwood Rest Home. Annie Jane was born in Glace Bay, N.S., to the late William and Mary (Warburton) MacLeod on Jan. 22, 1925. Annie Jane was the chosen child of the late John and Catherine Macneil, Christmas Island. Annie Jane married the love of her life, the late Kenneth J. MacDonald on Feb. 5, 1955, in Sydney. As a former resident of Sydney, Annie was employed in various positions including the Aspy Ferry supply boat that ran between Sydney and Dingwall in the early 1950s. Annie enjoyed gatherings of family, friends, good food and music. She was a member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, North River. Annie Jane is survived by son, Fred (Pearl), Newfoundland and his sons, David (Carla) and Dale; daughters, Dorothy (Lorne Keigan), Baddeck and their children, Jillian 'Coinneach' Ken and Kelsey, and Laura (Rick Shaw), Riverview, N.B. and their children, Jenna and Kaleigh. Also survived by one great-grandson, Nicholas. Annie Jane's family included step children, Harry, Kenneth, Gillis, Malcolm, Rachel Bennett, Phyllis Arsenault, the late Maisie Gillis, Wilma Ritchey and Anna Buchanan. Annie Jane was predeceased by biological brothers, Gorden and Edward 'Ted' MacLeod, and by her adopted siblings, Malcolm J. MacNeil, Sadie MacLean, Rachel MacNeil, Donald MacNeil, Margaret MacNeil and Mary MacNeil. The body is resting at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, North River, Tuesday, Jan. 6 from 2-8 p.m. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, Jan. 7 at 2 p.m. in St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church with Rev. Shirley Murdock officiating. Burial in Riverside Cemetery, North River. Donations to the Alzhiemer Society of Nova Scotia or a charity of one's choice.
