(1912-2010) - MINTO, NB – The sudden death of Daniel Agnew occurred at the North Minto Senior Residence on Sunday, March 7th, 2010 in his 98th year. Danny was born in Bryant’s Corner, NB and lived there all his life except for the 3 years he lived at the Senior Residence. He was the last surviving family member of the late James and Annie (Wellwood) Agnew. Danny was very gifted with his hands and was known as a “jack of all trades”, painter, carpenter, barber, farmer and blacksmith. He was a member of the New Brunswick Senior’s Federation in Harcourt, former member of the Citizen Band, Radio Club, “meadow mouse”. He enjoyed family gatherings, playing cards, crokinole and accordion player. Danny was our family story-teller of yesteryear. Danny attended St. Matthew’s Anglican Church where he was an active member and sexton. Left with fond memories are his nephew; Harrison (Warrenne) Agnew of Moncton, nieces; Dorothy (Earl) McGlinchey of Harcourt, Marjorie Garrant, of Peabody, MASS, Dorothy (Merle) Moore, Mary Yates (late John), Margaret (Ronald) Brown, Annabelle (William) Barton all of Minto, NB. Several grand nieces and nephews, and great grand nieces and nephews who loved him dearly, along with his special friend Bob Carle. Besides his parents, Danny was predeceased by sisters; Sarah, Emily and Annabelle, brothers; Fred, Charlie, George, Isaac, Archie, Philip, Everett and Wilson, nephews; George McNeil, Clarence Agnew, James (Boo) Agnew and niece Mary Miauri.
Resting at Thompson’s Funeral Home in Richibucto with visitation on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9. A Funeral Service will be held Friday, March 12th, 2010 at 1:00PM, St. Matthew’s Anglican Church, Harcourt with Reverend Cecil Symes officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery in the spring. In Danny’s memory donations to the memorial of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
