77, Sydney Michael (Mickey) Joseph Drohan, 77, died Jan. 5, 2009, peacefully at his home on 97 Grove St., Sydney. Mick was employed at Sydney Steel for over 30 years as a welder. He was a passionate member of the Local 1064 Steelworkers Union where he served for many years. As a youth he was an avid sportsman and a valuable player on the Sydney Millionaires Hockey Club. Born March 5, 1931, in Sydney, C.B., a son of Peter and Mary (O'Connor) Drohan. Besides his wife Pat (Young), he is survived by three sons, Michael (Colleen Kelley), Gary (Jan Leonard) and Robert; and daughter, Michelle (Scott Allison), all of Halifax; one sister, Bonnie (Gordon MacDonald); and brother, Johnnie (Marie), both of Sydney; seven grandchildren, Peter, Luke, Isabelle and Molly Drohan, Sam, Ben and Grace Allison. He was predeceased by sisters, Betty (Royal), Annette (Parrish), Delores (MacDonald), Irene (Lewis), Mona (Kanchuk), brothers, Charlie (Bride), Tommy (Elizabeth), Raymond (Margie) and two brothers who died in infancy. Visitation will be held at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel, on Wednesday, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sydney. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Church, Sydney, Thursday, Jan. 8 at 10 a.m. Donations may be made to Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.
