Dolena 'Dollie' MacLennan

95, Boulardarie It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dolena 'Dollie' Catherine (MacKenzie) MacLennan at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, on Monday, Jan. 5, 2009. Born in New Harris on Dec. 17, 1913, Dollie was the daughter of the late Catherine (Gunn) and Kenneth Angus MacKenzie. She resided in Boulardarie for 51 years. Dollie always enjoyed visitors in her home, where you were always served a good cup of tea and some of her beautiful baking. Dollie is survived by her 'special' niece, Elma and husband Jerry Maugher; grandniece, Bonnie and grandnephew, Paul, who with their love and watchful eye, allowed her to remain in her own home. Also surviving are sister, Sadie Hoover, Ottawa; niece, Lynne and nephew, David; brother, Kenneth (Marjorie) MacKenzie, Baddeck, N.S.; and nieces, Margo and Sylvia; sister-in-law, Margaret MacLennan, Florence; and nieces, Betty, Linda and Kathy. Besides her parents, Dollie was predeceased by her husband, James F., brothers, Johnnie, Harry, Wilfred and nephew, David. Visitation for the late Dollie MacLennan will be held Wednesday, Jan. 7 at Fillmore & Whitman Funeral Home, Sydney Mines from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held Thursday, Jan. 8 at 2 p.m. at St. John's United Church, Big Bras d'Or, with Rev. Sean Hancock officiating. Interment in St. James Cemetery at a later date. Family flowers only, memorial gifts could be made to a charity of choice.
