The death of Francis Armond Melanson of Rothesay, NB, husband of Nan (Horseman) Melanson, occurred on Saturday, March 13th, 2010, at his residence while surrounded by his loving family. Born in Saint John, NB, on September 1st, 1934, he was the son of the late Leo and Doris (Christensen) Melanson. Francis worked construction, as an Electrician, for his entire working career and was a member of the IBEW Local 502. Francis was an avid hunter and fisherman, but enjoyed all outside sports. He was a member of Freedom Riders Motorcycle Club and Fundy Trail Riders Snowmobile Club. In addition to his wife, Francis is survived by four daughters, Debbie Melanson (Vic Moore) of Saint John, Darlene Melanson (Brian Empey) of Toronto, Dana Melanson of Sault Ste. Marie and Jessica Parlee (Donnie) of Rothesay; three sons, Bruce (Connie), Stephen (Jeannine) and Robbie (Kelly), all of Quispamsis; one sister, Alice Harris of Saint John; two brothers, Thomas Melanson (Libby) and Mac Dennison, both of Saint John; ten grandchildren, Scott, Christopher, Michael, Katelyn, Erin, Ashley, Craig, Anthony, Dylan and Jordan; as well as, several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Francis was predeceased by one sister, Theresa Melanson; four brothers, Donald, Pat, Henry and Leo.
Resting at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis, (506) 849-2119, with visiting on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 16th, 2010, at 12:00 PM, from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Rothesay. Interment will take place in St. Alphonsus Cemetery, Hampton, at a later date. For those who wish, donations may be made to the Children’s Wish Foundation or Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
