1928-2009 Port Morien/Glace Bay We are sad to announce the passing of Annie MacDonald, age 82, formerly of Port Morien and a resident of Victoria Haven Nursing Home, Glace Bay. Annie passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009, at Victoria Haven. Born in Easington Colliery, England, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Annie (Goodrum) Metcalfe. Annie came to Canada at the age of three and lived most of her life in the Port Morien area. She was a member of St. Paul's Anglican Church, Port Morien. Annie will be sadly missed by her sons, Sheldon (Donna), Halifax, James, Hamilton, Ont.; and brother, John (Jean Ann), Port Morien. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Sharon, Russell, Amanda and Nicholas and five great-grandchildren, Charles, Trevor, David, Curtis and Chelsey. Besides her parents, Annie was predeceased by her daughter, Beverly, son-in-law, Henry and daughter-in-law, Patricia, five brothers, William, Stephen, Arthur, Thomas and Allan, two sisters, Elsie and Frances. In honouring Annie's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay.
