McCormick Home resident, died peacefully, surrounded by her family, at University Hospital, ICU, London, March 18, 2010, in her 85th year.
She was born in Lower Montague, P.E.I., to parents Leith and Hannah Cowan (nee Clark), and was a Second World War RCAF (Women's Division) veteran.
She was predeceased by siblings, Louis, May, Eva, Jack, Lucy, Vera and Irving (DFC) and is survived by her loving husband, Jack, London; and by sisters, Frances Cowan and Phyllis Hughes, in Charlottetown; also by her children, Brandy (Klaus) Benary, Golden, B.C.; Greg (Marianne) Smith, Almonte, Ont.; Karen (John) McGuire, Elgin, Ont.; and Margaret (Sandi Chinn) Smith, Toronto, Ont.; as well as by 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place with interment in Hensall Union Cemetery. A family memorial gathering will take place at a later date, and trees will be planted in her honour.
