1928 - 2010 - The family of Elsie Granchelli are heartbroken to announce her sudden death which occurred on Tuesday March 23, at The Moncton Hospital following a brief illness. The daughter of the late Leslie and Alma (Shaw) Potter she was born in Amherst, NH September 21, 1928 and raised in Clementsport, NS. Before retiring she worked, for many years, as a real estate agent in Halifax and Moncton. A very active member of St John the Baptist Anglican Church Riverview, she was active as a member of the Anglican Church Women, she loved working to raise funds for her church especially the many “bunnies†she made. She was a member of the Moncton East Liberal Women Association, a member of the Riverview Senior Citizens, and the Brae Siders Seniors. A kind and generous person she was very active with the Christian Children’s Fund, and a regular contributor to the Church Food Basket. She often would befriend immigrant families arriving into Canada becoming their Canadian Mother and know as “Mrs. G.†to many. Elsie is survived by her daughters Janine Granchelli of Riverview, Ria (John) Digout of Fletchers Lake, NS, son Bill Granchelli of Halifax, her son-in-law Ron Goodwin (late Linda) of Berry Mills, grandchildren Jason Goodwin of Moncton, Maureen Mazerolle (Marc) of Edmonton, Trevor Goodwin of Berry Mills, Rachel Loverin, Stacie Loverin, Sarah Loverin, Holly Loverin all of Halifax, Alex Digout and Robbie Digout both of Fletchers Lake, NS, two great grandsons Jeffrey Vezina-Goodwin of Moncton, Kylin Pottie of Halifax, sisters Mary Foren of Halifax, Thelma Kopp of Pickering ON, Frances Neaves (Vernon) of Halifax, Myrtle Sabeans of Annapolis Royal, brothers Carl Potter (Rose) of Pickering ON, Walter Potter of Calgary, sister-in law Pencie Granchelli of Sydney Mines and brother in law Gordon Granchelli (Georgie) of Sydney. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband William Thomas Granchelli, her grandson Tommy Goodwin and her daughter Linda Goodwin.
Visiting hours will be held at St John the Baptist Anglican Church, 28 Woolridge Dr. Riverview on Thursday, March 25th 2010 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. Her funeral service, conducted by Rev. Brent Hamm, will be held in the church on Friday, March 26th at 2pm followed by a reception in the church hall. Interment will take place in Christ Church Anglican Cemetery, Dartmouth. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the St John the Baptist Anglican Church Memorial Fund, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Friends of The Moncton Hospital.
