Harry Lewis
LEWIS - Harry Jones Lewis of Swift Current, SK, passed away March 16, 2010, at the Cypress Regional Hospital at the age of 82. Harry is survived by Ruth, his loving wife of 63 years; son Larry (Marty), granddaughters Leah (Allen) and Lindsey; son Glen (Linda), granddaughters Chrysta (Heather) and great grandson Gabriel, Allison (Casey) and great grandson Nolan; daughter Wendy (Keith Pierce), granddaughters Robynn (Aron) and great grandsons Matt, Ashton and Tucker, Kim (Kevin) and great granddaughter Samantha; daughter Cathy (Dick Reesor), granddaughter Heather (Chris), great grandchildren Kaitlin and Dylan and granddaughter Julie; daughter Barbara (Scott Sanderson), grandchildren Jennifer (Wade), great grandsons Rhett and Landon, Kelly (Tessa), Lane and Blake; daughter Debbie (Larry McMillan), grandchildren Christopher (Brittany), Nickey (Tyler). Harry was predeceased by his parents Tom and Beatrice Lewis, brothers Jack and Tom; sisters Blodwen Arnison, Margaret Madson, Sophie Palmer, Phyllis Lewis and grandson Jeffery Pierce. Harry was born May 18, 1927, at Vidora, S,. to Tom and Beatrice Lewis. He attended Alfalfa Valley School. He lived and worked in the Vidora, Robsart and Consul areas until retiring to Maple Creek, SK, and later to Swift Current, SK. The greater part of his life was spent farming south of Robsart. Harry enjoyed playing baseball, hockey and curling. He also coached women’s softball and men’s hockey. He enjoyed his trips to numerous places with family and friends. The funeral service was held March 22, 2010, in the Maple Creek Salvation Army with Pastor Dave Manley officiating. Pallbearers were Dave Lewis, Lorne Warnock, Brian Lewis, Allan Madson, Grant Brown and Jim French. Honorary pallbearers were all those who shared in Harry’s life. Special music was supplied by Grant Brown, Casey Ziegler and Geano Seifert. Interment took place at the Maple Creek Cemetery. Donations in memory of Harry may be made to the Consul Skating and Curling Rink or the Alzheimer Society. The family would like to thank the pallbearers, the Consul United Church Ladies and those who supplied the special music. Thanks to all for the visits, phone calls, cards, flowers and food. We’d also like to express a big thank you to the staff at the Swift Current Care Centre, Dr. Kielly and all the nurses at the Cypress Regional Hospital for their wonderful care.
