Sarah Ann Whitney

Halifax/Glace Bay Sarah Ann Whitney passed away peacefully at Northwood Centre, Halifax, on Sunday, Jan. 25, 2009. Born in Glace Bay, she lived there most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Angus and Mary E. MacPherson. She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph and only son, Gordon, her sisters, Greg, Effie and brother, Charles. She was an active member of Newsome United Church and the UCW for many years. Gardening, bowling and skating were favourite activities of hers. Surviving are her daughters, Sharon, Elizabeth, Anne as well as six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one great-great-grandchild; as well as one brother, Allan and one sister, Margaret. Our heartfelt thanks to the caregivers of 1C Northwood for their care of her during the 3.5 years she lived there. Cremation has taken place. Burial will be at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery, Glace Bay. Donations in her memory may be made to the Nova Scotia SPCA (Cape Breton Branch) or charity of choice.
