62, Sydney Mines It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Faith Sharon (Williams) Carter on Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by the people most important to her . . . her family. Faith was born in Alberton, P.E.I., on Aug. 7, 1946, to George and Elsie (Tarr) Williams. Raised in Alberton and Sydney Mines, she was always an "Islander" at heart. Faith was a member of Trinity Anglican Church in Sydney Mines. She was an active member of her community and was a founding member of Northside Future, a group dedicated to improving the Northside after the closure of the coal mines. Faith was an avid horsewoman and could be found every morning at the Northside Downs. Her love of harness racing was honoured when she was inducted into the Cape Breton Horseman's Association Honorary Hall of Fame. Faith is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, George; and by her three daughters, Sharon (Marc) Munroe, Shannon and Sandi (Paul) Barnes. Her greatest joy was found on the smiles of her grandchildren, Alyssa, Jordan, Courtney and Cate. Faith is also survived by her sister, Debbie (Bud) MacIntosh; brother, George (Robin) Williams; sister-in-law, Marg (Dave) Matthews; brothers-in-law, Donnie (Ann), Robert (Judy), Brian (Eileen), Terry (Isabel) and Ronnie (Jennifer); nine nieces, seven nephews and several grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her parents, George and Elsie (Tarr) Williams, sisters, Ella Jane and Ada Glos, brother, Kenneth David, mother-in-law, Elizabeth and father-in-law, George Sr. Visitation for Faith Carter will be held in the J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines, today (Friday), Jan. 30, 2009, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service to celebrate her life will take place Saturday at 2 p.m. in Trinity Anglican Church, Queen Street, Sydney Mines, with the Rev. Peter Rafuse officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Faith's memory may be made to the parish of Trinity Anglican Church.
